Our 1/2 inch PE insulated copper pipe combines a copper tube with an insulation covering for air conditioning piping installations. It is supplied as an individual pipe, allowing buyers to specify the required tube size and insulation configuration separately from other piping in the system.
For this product, 1/2 inch refers to the copper tube outside diameter: 12.7 mm. Copper wall thickness and insulation thickness are separate specifications and should be included in your purchasing requirements.

The finished outside diameter includes the insulation and is larger than the copper tube diameter.
Size Identification: A 12.7 mm copper tube is a 1/2 inch OD tube. It should not be confused with a 15.88 mm copper tube, which is approximately 5/8 inch OD.

The insulation covering helps limit heat transfer between the copper tube and its surroundings. For cold piping, suitable insulation thickness and continuous coverage are important for condensation control.
Consider pipe operating temperature, ambient temperature, humidity and installation location when specifying insulation. A thickness suitable for one location may not suit a more humid or exposed environment.
Installation details matter as much as the supplied pipe configuration. Connections, insulation joints and support locations should be finished according to the project specification to avoid exposed cold surfaces and gaps.
For outdoor routing or areas subject to sunlight and physical contact, confirm the required protective covering. Weather protection should be selected for the actual insulation material and exposure conditions.
